Characters represented in the mural include the late Bill Lowman, commercial fisherman and author. Bill also achieved some level of fame for bringing “Bobo” the gorilla to the Northwest. In addition to Lowman, characters represented […]

Museum of Flight

I had the opportunity Tuesday to take a 400-minute run through the Seattle Museum of Flight at Boeing Field. Hadn’t been there since the year the museum opened, and it’s changed dramatically. These photos are from the Personal Courage Wing, a new 88,000-sq.-ft. addition that opened June 6, 2004. Twenty-eight rare World War I and […]

Anyone who’s ever taken the Keystone Ferry to Port Townsend on a sunny day has been welcomed by this sight: the impressive Museum of the Jefferson County Historical Society. Downtown was bustling with shoppers. Dad noted that historic downtown buildings such as this one are a major draw. There are many fascinating old buildings.

‘Old Ironsides’ once visited Anacortes: 1933

Few people know that the community of Anacortes was once honored with a 5-day visit by U.S. Frigate Constitution, affectionately referred to as “Old Ironsides.” The masted vessel dropped anchor in Anacortes in 1933 during a rare Pacific Coast tour. A program from the event includes a note from Chamber of Anacortes President Ed Schwartz. […]
