Ronald W. Reagan, 40th President of the United States, died at his home in California on the afternoon of Saturday, June 5. Reagan hired Dad to serve as Executive Director of the Republican Governors Association. Dad, who was born in Anacortes and lives here today, spent many years in Washington, D.C. after an initial move to serve as Administrative Assistant to 2nd District Congressman Jack Westland. Ronald Reagan, 93, lived longer than any U.S. president, spending the last 10 years in seclusion as a result of Alzheimer’s disease.
