Inspired by the recent Anacortes High School Centennial, I post this photograph from 1960: Mrs. Thelma McCrea’s third grade class at Mt. Erie Elementary School. Also pictured are Susan Frank, Tommy Spencer, Carol Bruns, Mark Flickinger, Christa Knapp, Loren Troutman, Stephen Berentson; Paul Mahoney, Dirk Lunsford, Cheryl Gillespie, Vernette Thompson, Linda Larsen, Shelley Stratton, David Hammond. Mt. Erie was a new school then, and boy did we know how to have fun on that playground! Within a few months after this photo was taken, by dad took a job as administrative assistant to Congressman Jack Westland, and we were off to Springfield, Virginia. I didn’t call Anacortes home again until 1980.
