Sun and falls

It was a week ago that son Mark and I had a great time scrambling around the base of breathtaking Chatterbox Falls in British Columbia. Mark’s sense of adventure was greater than mine, leading him to seek a “shower” under the falls. We made the trip with a group of men from church aboard the sailboat “Makai.” It was a special trip … one which will continue to yield blessings as we review photos and recall conversations and experiences. I speak from experience, because when I was about Mark’s age I took a similar trip with my Dad and a group of men aboard the “Christian,” then homeported in Anacortes and skippered by my Uncle Don Taylor (now retired from the ministry and living on Guemes Island).

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
