Anacortes resident Eric Moe (left) was reunited with old friend Roy Getman (right) when the mission vessel “Coastal Messenger” of Canada made a stop Friday in LaConner. A tour of the boat included this visit to the engine room, which features a John Deere diesel engine. The Coastal Missions outreach ministry team visits up and down the West Coast, primarily from British Columbia to Alaska. The Christian ministry is described in part as “a reinforcement to existing church and missionary endeavors.” Eric first met Roy through his in-laws, Al and Mae Carpenter. The ministry’s original wooden boat was replaced by the current steel vessel in 1999. The 52-ft. boat was designed by Getman and built in Victoria, B.C.
