The sun emerged and crowds gathered on Anacortes streets Tuesday to cheer Anacortes athletes on their way to the state basketball tournament in Tacoma. Both boys and girls varsity teams enter the tournament with dreams of a state championship by the end of the day Saturday, March 10. A convoy of students departed about 11:15 a.m., with booster buses and fans preparing to follow over the course of the next several days. Included in the tournament entourage will be pep band members, cheerleaders and spirit groups who have cheered both teams on for the entire 2006-07 season. Have fun, Hawks!
