Quall applauded

State Rep. Dave Quall (at podium) was applauded Thursday afternoon at a ribbon-cutting event for the Northwest Career & Technical Academy. The Academy will be built off “R” Avenue, open to students in September 2010. Among those applauding Quall for his involvement in project funding were School Superintendent Chris Borgen, SVC President Dr. Gary Tollefson, Port of Anacortes Commission President Keith Rubin, Port Commissioner Bill Short, Port Executive Bob Hyde. Standing to the right is NW Career & Technical Academy Executive Director Donneta Spath. The ribbon-cutting took place at 2 p.m, with brief speeches and a reception following at the nearby ESD facility. More photos to follow in Activities section.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
