Now serving

With a “soft opening” over the weekend, Anthony’s at Cap Sante Marina restaurant made it official: they are now serving Anacortes, in more ways than one. Not only is the company open for meals, but they also partnered in a Rotary benefit dinner that brought in about $15,000 for local charities Gentry House and Boys & Girls clubs. Preceding the Rotary event was a ribbon cutting. Pictured here (l. to r.) are Brian Geer, City Council; Cynthia Richardson, City Council; Mayor Dean Maxwell; Bob Hyde, Port of Anacortes Executive Director; Budd Gould, President and Owner, Anthony’s Restaurants; Pat Mooney, Commissioner; Steve Hopley, Commissioner.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
