Permission to come aboard

Take a visit to Cap Sante Marina or Seafarers’ Memorial Park and you will likely see the “Adventuress,” a two-masted schooner visiting Anacortes for tours and cruises. The vessel website reports: “Adventuress will be sailing from Anacortes’ Cap Sante Marina this summer! Not only is it easy to get to, it’s a lovely maritime town with lots of great restaurants, shops and historic sites. Come sail from Anacortes this summer on a Public Sail or an overnight voyage to the San Juan Islands with your family. Some space still available on our popular Road Scholar trips. See you aboard in Anacortes!” Upcoming sails in Anacortes: Saturday, August 17, 3-6PM; Sunday, August 18, 12-3PM; Sunday, August 18, 4-7PM. FREE Dockside Tours: Saturday, August 17 10AM-2PM.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
