“Icing on the cake” of a beautiful December morning was this view of Mt. Baker en route to grab my morning paper.
After being “invisible” for a number of days, Mt. Baker emerged Sunday with a new “coat of paint,” or blanket of snow.
Wednesday evening drew many crews for racing on Fidalgo Bay, but at least one sailboat decided to sit this one out.
I know there’s a good reason that it doesn’t happen, but I sometime think I should get up at 5:30 a.m. more often. Rewards can be great, as evidenced by this dawn image of Mount Baker and environs.

This image of Mt. Baker was taken from the stairway leading to a popular viewpoint on top of Mt. Erie. Visible at the bottom of the image are tanks at Tesoro and Shell refineries on March’s Point.
Boaters throughout the Northwest are scrambling to maximize time on water as Summer 2010 comes to a close. Pictured here is the crew of “Itchy Feet,” motoring quietly on Fidalgo Bay with a Mt. Baker backdrop.
Sunday afternoon Tulip Festival traffic pushed us to old Highway 99 and this shot of Mt. Baker from J Benson Road.
