Crowds lined outside downtown shops and offices Saturday for the annual Anacortes Lions Christmas Parade. A good time was had by all, including parade participants. There were fire engines, horse carriages, singing children, crazy lawnmower elves, marching band and more! Thanks to all who took part in this great holiday tradition. Among three (yes, three!) school bands participating in the 2009 Lions Christmas Parade was the AHS Marching Band, pictured here in front of Gere-a-Deli restaurant. A great effort by young musicians on a chilly Saturday morning.
Middle School musicians strutted their stuff in the Lions Christmas Parade last weekend, marching up Commercial Avenue adorned in Santa hats. Music is an important element of community parades, and we had plenty of music thanks to this band and the Anacortes High School marching band.
These young musicians from Anacortes High School were among dozens of students who braved cold wind last weekend to provide live music at the lighting of the community Christmas tree. Also taking part in the evening ceremony were choirs from the high school and Fidalgo Elementary School. (See Holiday Music under Activities section)
