Morning scenes at Ship Harbor

Always a great idea to start the day in one of this community’s natural areas. Today, Ship Harbor, beach and wetlands. I was pleased to encounter a couple of new feathered friends.

This was the scene Thursday morning at the pond adjacent to the wastewater treatment plant in Anacortes.

Red-winged playground

This was the scene today at a wetlands restoration project on March’s Point Road, just across the highway from Similk Beach Golf Course. The corner and adjacent land are part of Shell Puget Sound Refinery’s wetlands restoration area. Cattails are a favorite perch among redwinged blackbirds.
