Seasons collided last week with a combination of snow and sunshine. Ice and snow put up a stubborn fight in the shadows of Guemes Channel Trail, while plants in the sunshine begin to put forth blossoms on the way to Spring!

These blossoms may be small, but the aroma from the plant is heavy. I enjoyed this spring smell, then walked into a kitchen filled with the aroma of fresh baked muffins. The weekend’s off to a great start.

They’re gathering daffodils on the other side of the Swinomish Channel, so I guess it only makes sense that flowers, trees and shrubs are starting to throw forth color here on Fidalgo Island. I’m gearing up for a warm, blue weekend.

All over town, tiny blossoms are adding splashes of color to the skyline. These ornamental cherry blossoms burst forth on a single tree at Causland Memorial Park in downtown Anacortes. Home gardeners are pulling on gloves and kneepads as they begin spring chores in earnest.
