Fishermen are out. On a visit to Deception Pass Park I viewed folks fishing from North Beach, boat just offshore, and bluff from the base of Pass Island. Traveling in and out of the park I saw many folks fishing lakes including Cranberry, Heart, Campbell and Pass.

A parade of boats was just one of numerous events scheduled Saturday at Cap Sante Boat Haven for the opening day of Boating Season 2011. Other activities included sea shanties, brief speeches, a blessing of the fleet, clam chowder luncheon and a tour of the soon-to-reopen Seafarers’ Memorial Park.
“Find Your Boat Here,” as the yellow sign suggests, was the goal of brokers hosting the 2011 Anacortes Spring Boat Show. The show, held at Cap Sante Boat Haven under blue skies, wraps up Sunday after a three-day run.
Boats and miscellaneous marine-related products and services are on display this weekend at Cap Sante Boat Haven. There is no charge for the 2011 Anacortes Spring Boat Show, which opened Friday and runs through Sunday, March 20.
Hundreds of guests responded Saturday to a “welcome aboard” message extended for the free Anacortes Floating Boat Show at Cap Sante Boat Haven in downtown Anacortes. The show continues Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to display boats, features of the show include seafood and vendor exhibits.
One of the stars of the 2010 Anacortes Work Boat Races was this Vessel Assist boat. Unlike many of the larger boats at the event, the Vessel Assist boat was able to “perform” up close and personal for a crowd gathered on the Port dock.
The Port of Anacortes has extended an invitation to a day of celebratory activities Saturday, May 1 in recognition of the opening of the 2010 Boating Season. Activities begin at noon at Cap Sante Boat Haven, a beautiful downtown marina that is open to the public.
