No bald eagles this morning, but lots of other feathered friends on Tommy Thompson Trail and March’s Point. I was particularly pleased to see the tern and couple of hawks. A great way to start the day on beautiful Fidalgo Island!
Canada goose and one of numerous babies. Deception Pass State Park.
It is an extraordinary neighborhood: the dunes area between the ocean and lake at Deception Pass State Park. This area is located south of the West Beach restrooms. Surf on one side, fresh lake water on the other.
Although this adult Canada goose is closest in proximity to this group of youngsters, there were numerous other adult geese on the scene. Several drew closer to this circle as I appeared with camera. Distancing is standard procedure for wildlife photography. Deception Pass State Park, on the west perimeter of Cranberry Lake.
It was quiet on this Saturday at Ship Harbor, site of the state ferry terminal in Anacortes. A Canada goose paddles toward the beach, a recreational boater and the state ferry Elwha in the background. There were only a few cars in the terminal parking lot.
