I was not alone this morning on a visit to sun-splashed Cap Sante.
Commercial docks at Cap Sante Boat Haven were busy Monday, as were sidewalks filled with walkers enjoying the sunshine and blue skies.
Visible at the top of this image are two state ferries coming into Anacortes from the San Juans. This telephoto image from Cap Sante also includes US Bank, Anacortes Community Theater and the City Library.

This was the scene from Cap Sante on Friday, December 31 as the sun began to set on 2010. The first day of 2011 is a cool, crisp beauty.
Cap Sante, destined to be a busy place on New Year’s Eve, was busy this afternoon as well. Among those gathered at the popular viewpoint was a mother with two children and a puppy. Under proper adult supervision, this is a great place for a family outing.

Timing is everything. I spotted the Tillikum doing sea trials on Fidalgo Bay, Mt. Baker in the background, but by the time I got to Cap Sante the angle on the mountain was gone. The Tillikum has been undergoing maintenance and repair work in this area.
Sunshine is the ally of area boat brokers and dealers hosting a weekend Floating Boat Show at Cap Sante Boat Haven in downtown Anacortes. Hours of the free event are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to beautiful boats, features of the show include food vendors and exhibits.
It’s not an ordinary bicycle, but then there’s nothing ordinary about an outing to Cap Sante Boat Haven, either. This public marina in downtown Anacortes is owned by the Port of Anacortes. Pay a visit this coming weekend for the annual Fall Floating Boat Show, free to all.
