Drawing the eye on any trip through downtown Anacortes are sidewalk flower boxes filled with bright yellow daffodils. The Skagit Valley boasts acres of these pre-tulip beauties.
Seasonal window displays like this one leave little doubt about the fact that we are well on our way to Thanksgiving. The Anacortes Chamber of Commerce presents the Annual Trick-or-Treat downtown from 1 – 4 p.m. on October 30. Participating downtown merchants will have candies for the kiddies and coupons or specials for the parents. […]
With flowers baskets in full bloom and sun shining, downtown Anacortes is looking beautiful these days. This photo of a couple having a romantic stroll was taken on the corner of Commercial Avenue in front of the Majestic Inn and Spa.
Downtown Anacortes was busy Thursday morning, with coveted weekend tourism “traffic” soon to follow.
It’s summer now, and families have started to embark on Northwest adventures. Monday morning found these two families in downtown Anacortes, quiet but inviting. I was “on a mission,” so didn’t take time to talk to them about their itineraries. Hope they stop in at the Chamber’s Visitor Information Center!
I’m not so sure this country’s depressed economy has “turned the corner,” but the corner of 5th Street and Commercial was busy the other day when I rolled by in the car. Fidalgo Bay and Cap Sante Boat Haven appear in the foreground of this photo, the Guemes Channel and its namesake island on the horizon. Also visible are part of Cap Sante and downtown Anacortes. See AnacortesToday blog for more aerial photos.

When the founders, John and Horace Dodge, died in the Unites States, […]
I caught this shot of downtown Anacortes during an elevated adventure just after our most recent snowfall. That’s LensWork Publishing on 3rd Street in the foreground, with other landmark buildings including the Majestic Inn and Spa (left).
Hundreds of children took advantage of a daylight Halloween option offered by Anacortes businesses. Parents and children worked Commercial Avenue Friday afternoon, filling their bags with treats from local shops, offices and restaurants.
The countdown to Christmas has begun, as evidenced by the white lights and decorations already placed to “dress up” the city’s retail districts. Check out the hospital foundation’s Celebration of Trees on display at the Port of Anacortes warehouse, 1st and Commercial, this Thursday through Saturday. On Saturday the free horse and carriage rides are […]
