I captured a photo of this eagle Friday morning on a drive around March’s Point.
I was at Cap Sante Boat Haven Thursday evening when I noticed a bald eagle sweeping past. On his tail were two or three seagulls, apparently upset about the eagle’s presence. The eagle took a perch atop the mast of a commercial vessel, and one of the seagulls continued a harassment flight pattern for a […]
This is one of two young eagles born last spring in a nest just a few hundred yards from Fidalgo Bay. Both were flying Saturday, but I didn’t get them in the same frame. According to www.eagles.org, the bald eagle was officially declared the national emblem of the United States by the Second Continental Congress […]
I’ve been hearing a lot of reports of eagle sightings, from Anacortes to the Upper Skagit area. Sister Vickie said she recently saw six eagles standing in a field in the Bow-Edison area, likely taking advantage of farming activity that puts mice out in the open. This eagle perched on a treetop overlooking Padilla Bay, […]
A bald eagle perched on a tree on the west side of Cap Sante keeps an eye on marina developments below.
Early afternoon sun on a Fidalgo Island snag made this photograph possible. There’s an eye-catching contrast between the eagle’s white head feathers and the deep blue sky of a February afternoon.
A bald eagle stands guard over the northeast tip of Fidalgo Island Saturday morning as a pair of boats round the corner from the Guemes Channel into Fidalgo Bay.
I used the 7X optical zoom on my camera for this photo of an eagle gazing out on Fidalgo Bay.
Perched on a branch about six feet from a dark young eagle was this beautiful bald eagle. I’m guessing it’s momma. Another young eagle flew away as soon as I approached. Scattered beneath the tree were feathers and remnants of past meals. This was a Saturday adventure on Fidalgo Island. On Sunday I saw a […]
I was pleased Monday morning to catch this young eagle basking in the sun at the top of a shoreline tree. The beautiful predator waited patiently while I took a dozen or so photos.
My usual preference with wildlife photography is to “get closer,” but I enjoyed this eagle from afar Monday afternoon as it circled slowly over our house on its way south.
It’s cold this week, but winter days are often among the best of the year for beautiful images against a blue sky backdrop. I photographed this eagle roosting in a tree on March’s Point.
