It was Spring 2010 when the community responded with more than $300,000 in contributions for the post-fire rebuild of the trestle on the Tommy Thompson Trail. A fire destroyed 300 feet of the half-mile-long trestle in 2009. Donations were made through the Anacortes Parks Foundation.

Several fire departments gathered at H Avenue for a practice fire as an Anacortes home dating back approximately 100 years was burned to make way for new construction.
