I usually see flickers close to the ground. This beauty swept by in front of my path, then to a perch high above the trail. With the aid of a flash I got this photo. The northern flicker is a medium-sized bird of the woodpecker family. It is native to most of North America,
I can’t imagine a better morning. My “breakfast time” adventure featured opportunities to photograph a number of beautiful Fidalgo Island birds, some of which offered songs. Also part of the morning but not photographed were herons and crows. Mostly little birds, the largest being the flicker.
