Caught temporarily in its journey from branch to earth is this dead leaf, doomed to fall to the ground before the wind delivers it to a final resting place.
This fallen leaf, caught between fern fronds just inches from the forest floor, stands as evidence that a season change is underway.
An initial glance would suggest this photographer captured an “action shot” as this leaf dropped from a branch and fell toward the ground. In fact, I suspect the leaf was blown into this bush, suspended in flight until a stronger gust of wind pushes it toward its ultimate fate.
