New perspective

I had the privilege of looking down on Commercial Avenue this afternoon from the cupola atop the Majestic Inn and Spa. Prominent in this photo are the Red Snapper and Maison et Jardin, decorated and ready for the Christmas customer that is so important to the small town merchant.

Fence comes down

A perimeter fence around the Majestic Inn in downtown Anacortes came down this week, evidence of progress toward its re-opening. The outside boasts new paint and trim, and renovation work continues inside.

Downtown lift

Painters use a hydraulic lift to hit the high spots, painting trim on the Majestic Hotel in Anacortes. Many believe that renovation and re-opening of the historic building will provide a commercial lift in the community, especially to the downtown district. Also on the horizon is construction of a decorative archway spanning Commercial Avenue
