Running trophy

One of my favorite events of the year is the Kids’ Half-Mile Run at the Tesoro March Point Run, which also features 5K and 10K races. The free children’s run yields dozens of ribbons, trophies and prizes for happy athletes such as Grayson Eaton, pictured here. Look for more trophy photos in the Activities section. […]

Tesoro hosts run

Hundreds gathered under sunny skies Saturday for the annual Tesoro March Point Run, an event featuring kids’ half-mile, 5K and 10K. Once again this year, Tesoro employee Bud Anderson led a crew of employee volunteers for the race. Among runners was refinery manager Don Sorensen. Following the race, Tesoro hosted a luncheon and awards ceremony. […]

Kicking off the event each year is a half-mile children’s race. Top male and female 10K winners were Clay Wing and […]

According to www.eagles.org, the bald eagle was officially declared the national emblem of the United States by the Second Continental Congress […]

Among top competitors at the 2005 Tesoro March Point 5K/10K Run & Walk Saturday morning was Anacortes City Council member Brad Adams, an avid runner. Adams finished second in his age division. This great family event attracted an enthusiastic crowd under sunny skies at the Tesoro Refinery. Behind Adams is “Cedar Sam,” a story pole […]

Heron in flight

A great blue heron reacts quickly to the photographer emerging from his car on South March Point Road. The average length of a heron is 38 inches, with a wingspan of 70 inches – almost six feet! I’m thinking I’m going to have to build a blind to get the photos I want from these […]
