A different kind of fall color
First came a period of no rain, taking a toll on local trees. Then came some cool fall temps and wind. Not leaves, but needles from conifers. The Loop Road in Washington Park, west Anacortes.

Northwest emerald
At a time when much of the area’s plant life is dying away for the season, falling to the earth, my eye was drawn to the vibrant green branches of a bluffside conifer illuminated by the midmorning sun.
