Despite wind and rain, the show goes on at the historic New Wilson Hotel building in downtown Anacortes. Construction crews worked high above the street on scaffolding that wraps south and east sides of the building Monday morning. The building will ultimately feature low income residential units.
By this time next year the historic New Wilson Hotel in downtown Anacortes will be bustling with the activity associated with 25 apartments. The hotel, which will be operated by the City of Anacortes Housing Authority, will feature 25 studio and 1-bedroom apartments. Work is under way, and scheduled for completion in July 2006.
In my youth I got a kick out of watching construction projects while doing summer jobs in the big city. Crews are hard at work on the New Wilson Hotel building in downtown Anacortes. Debris is being dropped down a chute from upper levels as renovation work including the roof is under way. The building will ultimately be converted to apartments operating under the umbrella of the Anacortes Housing Authority.
