Impressive. I watched this paddleboarder first from Reservation Head, and then moving past Lighthouse Point on the way “back” (Bowman Bay, I think, or maybe Rosario). Balance, stamina and a great sense of adventure.
Evening ferry run and a pair of folks on a paddleboard.
A paddleboarder glides across the water in front of Canoe Pass, just south of Fidalgo Island.
This was a fun shot. Could be a setup for a joke: “A sailboat skipper, a kayaker and a family of three on a paddleboard meet on the bay …” Bowman Bay, midday Monday.
Saturday morning exercise on the north shore of Fidalgo Island.
Summer sunshine draws people outdoors, as evidenced here on a recent visit to Bowman Bay on south Fidalgo Island. Anacortes Kayak Tours is operating again with restrictions, and area parks including Deception Pass State Park are open. Good to get out of the box!
Typically Cranberry Lake at Deception Pass Park is crazy busy at this time of year. Given COVID-19 restrictions, however, most activity has taken place on weekends. Regardless, an early morning visit to this beautiful corner of our awesome neighborhood park yields greater opportunity for a peaceful walk. There is much to enjoy.
Except for a solo fisherman, this paddleboarder had Cranberry Lake all to herself Tuesday morning. Solitude becomes a rare thing at Deception Pass Park as summer months bring more people than ever at an already popular state park.
What better way to enjoy the outdoors while meeting COVID-18 “social distancing” regulations. There was a marked spike in activity on the water Friday afternoon at Bowman Bay, but watersports provided a safe way to exercise and enjoy the sun without worry about a crowd.
