Among activities at the Port of Anacortes is the shipping of petroleum coke, a byproduct of the refining business at Shell Puget Sound Refinery. Longshoremen are busy this week unloading trucks from the refinery into this large ship. Approximately 300,000 tons of pet coke are shipped from Pier 2 each year.
