Pilings and piling remnants stand as evidence of the days when Anacortes was the salmon canning capital of the world. Ship Harbor, west side of the city.

I’m not sure how far the pilings in the foreground of this photograph date back, but this stretch of Anacortes waterfront was for decades a scene of commercial activity.
