Ship Harbor

This aerial of the Ship Harbor area on the west side of Anacortes shows shoreline residential developments including Skyline, Portalis and San Juan Passage, among others. Work is underway to create a waterside trail from the state ferry terminal, with a long-term goal of linking to the Tommy Thompson Trail.

Foundation work

It’s fascinating to watch cement crews at work. This team worked Saturday at Portalis, a residential community located above the ferry terminal at Ship Harbor. Foundations are going in for another unit of townhouses.

This was the view Saturday morning from Portalis, a new, 13-acre residential community above the state ferry terminal at Ship’s Harbor. Passing by a docked San Juans ferry was an oil tanker under tug escort.

Portalis progress

Among many residential construction projects in Anacortes is Portalis, situated with a view of the state ferry terminal north of Oakes Avenue. Visible in the foreground is the foundation of a three-plex building. Ultimately there will be six three-plexes for a total of 18 townhome units ranging in size from 1,881 to 2,249 square feet.

Progress at Portalis

Construction of the first home at Portalis is well under way. This photo was taken this morning from Oakes Avenue, overlooking the 13-acre residential subdivision situated above the state ferry terminal at Ship Harbor. There will be 33 homes in the first phase of the community.
