A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held Friday morning, attended by Port staff, Puget Sound Rope representatives, two port commissioners, Mayor Dean Maxwell, Chamber of Commerce Director Stephanie Hamilton and others.
Crews Wednesday morning loaded an industrial sized “spool” of rope for transport to a client. Randy Arendse of Cortland Puget Sound Rope presided over the shipping activity. The Anacortes company produces high performance fiber rope for industrial applications and marine offshore oil exploration.
