Otters frolic at Rosario

My afternoon hike at Rosario featured a few minutes with a family of river otters. The group of six or seven started on the dock, moving to the water. A couple of the adults headed from water up the rocky shoreline, but ultimately all moved back into the water and slipped around the corner.

Huge seal takes a breather

I was fortunate to encounter this seal on the edge of a bluff at Rosario this morning. Big! And so impressively agile under water. I had about two minutes of quality time before he departed for deeper waters.

Kayaker photographs eagle

Wildlife adventure

One place led to the other, and before my Wednesday outing was over I had visited Rosario Head, Bowman Bay and the West Beach Cranberry Lake area of Deception Pass State Park. Had to take some photos of wildlife friends along the way. Hawk and geese surprised me with their patience.

Churning toward LaConner

I love tugboats. I love Mt. Baker. On a Tuesday afternoon drive I found them together.
