Sailors participating in Wednesday night races prepare for a turn on Fidalgo Bay.
Sailing crews from Anacortes Yacht Club enjoy time on the water. Wednesday, May 27 on Fidalgo Bay.
On a beautiful May day in 2012 I drove to Cap Sante to take photographs of a sailboat race below on Fidalgo Bay. Among competitors were the “Emoyeni” of Whidbey Island and “Pangaea” of Anacortes.
Saturday morning was beautiful, even if the sun didn’t fully cooperate. A number of sailboat owners took the opportunity to enjoy some time on the water. This photograph was taken from Cap Sante, near the “intersection” of Fidalgo Bay and the Guemes Channel.
It was exciting Sunday morning to discover this boat coming into Anacortes under sail. More often than not, sailboats motor in and out of Cap Sante Marina. Makes one wish one was a boat owner…

At this time of year, with boat owners doing their best to wring more precious time out of the sunshine season, traffic is particularly heavy around Fidalgo […]
It was Wednesday night when I pulled over near Anacortes Marina to take this shot of sailboats crisscrossing Fidalgo Bay. Visible in the foreground are wrapped, tubular sections of wind tower columns being produced by T Bailey crews here in Anacortes. The wrapped units are being stored up and down Fidalgo Island’s eastern shoreline. Plans […]

On this evening we watched as city Park and Recreation Department employees put a group of young students through the paces just offshore on Fidalgo Bay. Two instructors in pontoon boats motored in and out among the students in their tiny sailboats, one leading them south in formation […]
