This fenced pathway is just part of new shoreline improvements being made in conjunction with the San Juan Passage residential development overlooking the state ferry terminal at Ship Harbor.
This aerial of the Ship Harbor area on the west side of Anacortes shows shoreline residential developments including Skyline, Portalis and San Juan Passage, among others. Work is underway to create a waterside trail from the state ferry terminal, with a long-term goal of linking to the Tommy Thompson Trail.

Work continues at a San Juan Passage “park” overlooking the state ferry terminal at Ship Harbor. A plaque at the site notes that the current facility was dedicated on June 7, 1970. Port Commissioners were E.A. Andrews, Eugene “Bud” Strom and Douglas P. Burton. Port District Manager was Robert […]
Kayakers take deep strokes at the start of the San Juan Challenge, a kayak race that actually features two one-day races and one two-day race. The event started at 10 a.m. Saturday in the harbor at Seafarers Memorial Park in Anacortes. See “Kayak race” in Activities section for more photos.

This photograph of the bow of a moored boat was my favorite among a number of beauties taken by Teague on a visit to the San Juan […]
