The Healer: 2012

Among outdoor public art items in Anacortes over the years was this sculpture by Leon White titled “The Healer.” March 2012 near the intersection of 12th Street and Commercial Avenue.

Powell creates high profile art

Among my favorite pieces of public art in this area are “The Maiden of Deception Pass” at Rosario Beach and “Cormorant” at Ship Harbor Interpretive Preserve (SHIP) adjacent to the state ferry terminal. Both pieces were created by local artist Tracy Powell. To read more about Powell, click here.

Osborne’s ‘Windsong,” 2007

Located in the park area near the Guemes Ferry landing is “Windsong,” a sculpture by local artist Leo E. Osborne. The sculpture is dedicated to world peace. (Macro of part of the vertical piece. June 2007)

Tsutakawa delivers sculpture: April 2008

It was April 2008 when renowned Northwest sculptor Gerard Tsutakawa and team delivered the sculpture “Annie Curtis” to its home at Cap Sante Marina. A beautiful day for placement and unveiling, with many arts community and Port of Anacortes dignitaries on hand.

Eagle inspired sculpture: 2015

“Aerie,” a stainless steel sculpture by Merrilee Moore. Inspired by an eagle’s nest. Located at the roundabout on the south end of Commercial Avenue. Installed in January 2015.

Tsutakawa delivers ‘Annie’ – 2008

It was April 2008 when renowned Northwest sculptor Gerard Tsutakawa and his team delivered “Annie Curtis” to her new home at Cap Sante Marina. The artist stayed “up close and personal” during the entire delivery/unveil process.

Sculpture coming

Preparations are well under way for the arrival of another piece of public art in Anacortes. A 20-foot sculpture by Seattle artist Gerard Tsutakawa will soon be placed on this pedestal near the Harbormaster’s Office at Cap Sante Boat Haven.

Street greeting

Greeting diners at the Gere-a-Deli restaurant is this bouquet-bearing sculpture by Philip Glashoff, who has a number of other unique creations available at Insights Gallery on Commercial Avenue.
