Path prep

Crews continue to work at Seafarers’ Memorial Park on Fidalgo Bay. This Port of Anacortes facility is located on the site of the former Scott Paper Mill. The site has undergone an environmental cleanup and is now being prepared for a spring re-opening.

Beach makeover

New wharf and docks on the shoreline near Seafarers’ Memorial are visible from Cap Sante. This former paper mill site is going to be an awesome beachfront asset.

Posing with the Lady

Despite an environmental cleanup taking place nearby, the Seafarers’ Memorial continues to draw visitors such as this family. A boy climbed up on the “Lady of the Sea” statue to pose for a photograph as boat traffic continued steadily in and out of Cap Sante Boat Haven.

Memorial park

Seafarers’ Memorial Park on the shores of Fidalgo Island near downtown Anacortes. This is a favorite place among locals as summer weather extends its invitation to the outdoors.

Light on

“We’ll leave the light on for ya.” It’s quiet these days at Seafarers’ Memorial Park, at least compared to bustling summer days. I still recommend this beautiful spot for a brown bag lunch break, and Cap Sante Boat Haven is beautiful regardless of weather.

Ocean spray

When I got to Seafarers’ Memorial Park about noon Saturday, I took my cap off before the wind took it off for me. Only the hearty ventured out for Saturday strolls in these blustery winds. Still, it’s kind of fun to watch the action on the water.

Retail and office space

Work is progressing rapidly on a combined retail/office project near Seafarers Memorial on Fidalgo Bay. The new building is going up in the neighborhood of the Thrive fitness center and the state Educational Service District (ESD) building.

After the sun emerged this afternoon there were beautiful blue skies providing a backdrop for community landmarks such as the Seafarers Memorial at the Port of Anacortes South Harbor Park.
