I was excited this morning to discover a Great Egret at Ship Harbor in west Anacortes.
Terminal pilings “bookend” the state ferry Chelan as it departs from Anacortes on a weekday morning.
There are many great blue herons in our region, especially along saltwater shorelines. I photographed this heron tucked away in a wetland area adjacent to the beach at Ship Harbor in Anacortes.
Ducks have been plentiful, but I haven’t seen so many bunnies as I saw this morning on my walk through the wetlands at Ship Harbor. Hoping also for the return of osprey.
It was a heartwarming experience this afternoon to see many people of all ages on beach and trail near the state ferry terminal at Ship Harbor. Among them was Anacortes birdwatcher Neil O’Hara. A walk on the Anacortes shoreline provided ample evidence that Spring is on the way. The number of Towhees scratching away for food has grown in recent days, affording me the opportunity to photograph one of my favorite birds.
