This white-whiskered “skipper,” familiar to those who routinely travel 12th Street/Oakes Avenue, casts a hard shadow on the fence above Lovric’s Shipyard on the Guemes Channel. Aye, and he’ll be feelin’ the sun on his face more and more often as we push inevitably toward spring.
This salty character, familiar to many in Anacortes, welcomes passersby at the Oakes Avenue entrance to Lovric’s Sea-Craft marina/shipyard. Lovric’s features a big boat/breakwater and probably the finest historic building on the Guemes Channel. A similar carving stands out on Highway 20 near Burlington. Haven’t quite figured that one out yet…
