It will be a red letter day in Anacortes today (Friday, March 15) as R Avenue will be re-opened after several months of upgrades including a roundabout and curbs/gutters/sidewalks at several intersections. This exhaustive project started in early November of 2023, pushing traffic onto Commercial Avenue and other already-busy streets.

I invested some time with this goldeneye duck Thursday as he paddled the north side of the Fidalgo Bay trestle looking to go south. He eventually crossed under to join a couple of friends. A beautiful bird.
