Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski and his wife Nancy (with champagne bottle) visited Anacortes for the Saturday christening and launching ceremony for the ferry Stikine, the second vessel in the fleet of the Prince of Wales Inter-Island Ferry Authority. Ferry project

A power pole casts its shadow as a welder continues work on the “Stikine,” a new ferry for the Alaskan inter-island ferry system. The vessel is under construction at Dakota Creek Industries (DCI),located upland from the Guemes Channel on Port of Anacortes property.
