This photo is from August 2007. I believe it is a trail running along the edge of wetlands at Sharpe Park.
With the North Beach parking lot at Deception Pass State Park closed for the season, many hikers opt to access this area from a trail descending from the North Whidbey bridge parking area. Views from the trail are well worth the energy expended to hike down … and up again.

Light, shadows, colors, textures, songbirds. I needed this time alone on a forest trail. On the way to and from home, I captured images to share, knowing that many are inside, 24-7.
This trail at Deception Pass State Park is beautiful, and then emerges to feature a stunning view of Deception Pass Bridge. Near the “intersection” of West Beach and North Beach on the Whidbey side of the park.
