Beach adventure

Just a short distance after starting onto the Loop Road at Washington Park you will discover a parking area to the left on a hard left turn. Park the car and descend a staircase to this wonderful stretch of beach.

Skyline vista

This was the view of Skyline Saturday from the hilltop viewpoint at Washington Park. This is the largest neighborhood on the west side of the city.

Silhouette

This photograph was taken Sunday afternoon from the playground area at Washington Park’s Sunset Beach. Prominent in the silhouette is the horizontally configured shoreline tree routinely associated with Anacortes.

View over Burrows

I wasn’t the only one who chose this strange fall day to spend an hour or so at Washington Park. This was the view in late Saturday afternoon from the top of the Loop Road looking across Burrows Bay toward Mt. Erie. Put the Loop Road on your agenda. Walk, jog, bike or drive.

Joggers, bikers, walkers and drivers pass this landmark tree shortly after starting around the city park’s one-way loop road. Inside the loop are acres of land laced with a well-maintained trail system.

Bench with a view

It’s not likely you’ll find solitude here at this time of year, but there is often a bench seat available near this weathered crag at the top of the Washington Park Loop Road. At least two generations of my family have utilized this tree as backdrop for photographs of children. The Loop Road summit provides […]
