Staging yet another “sea battle” on the waters between Fidalgo and Guemes islands Saturday were the Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain (firing cannon). Word is they will be available for tour and cruise again out of Cap Sante Boat Haven Sunday, August 10.
The Lady Washington, a tall ship replica out of Grays Harbor, visits Anacortes with sister ship Hawaiian Chieftain Friday and Saturday, August 9 and 10. The vessels will operate out of Cap Sante Boat Haven, offering dockside tours as well as paid trips for “battles” on the bay. The Lady was here just a week […]
My friend James works his way up a trail near the pull-out on Washington Park’s Loop Road. What a beautiful Friday morning!
I’ve featured this tree before on this site, if I’m not mistaken, but it’s hard to resist. In fact, I think my Dad and Mom’s family album includes a photo or two with kids perched in its branches. I know ours does. Weather’s been bleak, but we had an awesome Wednesday afternoon, so Dad and […]
This lonely tree shows the ravages of time and weather. It is located on the Washington Park loop road at the summit overlooking Burrows.
Lady Washington and crew motored out of Cap Sante Boat Haven Tuesday about 10:30 a.m. after a few days in Anacortes with companion ship, Hawaiian Chieftain. The tall ship replica is a favorite among boat-watchers in the region. Homeport is Grays Harbor.
This woman had one of the best seats in the house on a sunny afternoon at Washington Park. There are several benches along the park Loop Road, but this one at the top of a staircase leading to the beach is my favorite.
This was the view early Wednesday afternoon from the summit of Washington Park Loop Road, with a branch of the park’s twisted tree silouetted in the foreground. Visible in the distance is Mt. Erie.
I took the “local traffic” option a couple of days ago through the Sunset Avenue street improvement project and was rewarded with this photograph of the beach at Washington Park. It’s time to go into storage to dig out that cooler and beach umbrella. Sunshine’s on its way!
What a beautiful afternoon we had Wednesday. I took the opportunity to cruise through Washington Park, stopping long enough on the loop road to capture this image of “the tree” protruding over the water on the island’s northwest shoreline. Visible in the distance is an oil tanker, and closer to shore, a few ducks.
This visitor to the city’s Washington Park is silouetted against the afternoon sun as he returns to his car at the viewpoint above Burrows Island. The park was busy, likely populated by recreationists trying to make the most of remaining summer days.
My hat is off to this couple. They woke up to Wednesday morning sun and blue skies and immediately headed for the Washington Park boat launch. I was in the parking lot taking advantage of a new laptop computer to get some writing done outside the confines of my dungeon office. When I left, there […]
