Wayne’s world features wildlife

Another photographer friend of mine is Wayne Martin, who I met a number of years ago at the Anacortes Waterfront Festival. Wayne enjoys a periodic visit to Northwest Trek, among other favorite haunts. I believe that is where he captured this stunning portrait of a bald eagle a few weeks back.

Lady Washington festival poster: 2003

It was April 2003 when photographer Wayne Martin (left) stepped in front of an Anacortes Chamber of Commerce audience to be recognized as the featured artist for the 2003 Waterfront Festival. Wayne’s beautiful photograph featured Mt. Baker and tall ship replica “Lady Washington.” Also pictured here are then Shell Refinery Manager Tom Smith and Chamber […]

Anacortes Commercial Fishing Fleet

Photographer friend Wayne Martin sent this photo along from his “BD” files (that’s Before Digital). He doesn’t have a date with the shot, but I’m hoping someone out there can help approximate the date. Pictured here at Cap Sante Boat Haven are the Cypress, Legacy, San Juan, Rough Rider and Trisha Michelle, all part of […]

Turn of the century Mount Vernon

Photographer friend Wayne Martin shared this historic photo of Mount Vernon, accompanied by some recollections from his childhood: “My guess this is in the early 1900s. When I was a kid I remember playing in and around the house on the left of the photo. When I was there the front yard and the bay […]

What a difference three decades make

Photographer Wayne Martin passed these Cap Sante panoramas along to me to share with our AnacortesToday.com audience. Tough to see many details at this size, but suffice it to say changes in the downtown area have been significant.

Steel span against orange sky

Except for days when the entire area is socked in with fog, there are no “off” days at Deception Pass. This stunning sunset photo was taken by friend Wayne Martin (not sure when). Once again, Wayne, thanks for sharing!

Americana on ice

Stuck in a snowbank during the recent snow was this classic American tricycle, spotted and photographed by Wayne Martin. It’s no Big Wheel, but these trikes dominated in the category of longevity.

Crystallized garden display

Wayne Martin tackled the snow in south Mount Vernon to capture this beautiful image at Skagit Gardens.

Winter blue

Monday’s snow prompted photographer friend Wayne Martin to dig through his 2008 snow files, where he discovered this beauty. I love the blue in this shot!

Phototography tip

From my photographer friend Wayne Martin: “A photo tip. Don’t shoot at eye level all the time. I took this with my camera lowered right to the beach, close to the water. That put the wave and the tug almost at the same level. This was taken by the lighthouse in Port Townsend, looking north.” […]

The fisherman

I don’t have any details about this photo from my friend Wayne Martin, but I know I like it. He simply titled it: “The Fisherman.”
