Photos & Funk
Unveiling of the latest photo exhibit at the Anacortes Museum drew hundreds, from teens to eighty-somethings. The occasion was the gala opening of the Wallie Funk Photo Collection, a fascinating family of photos gathered by the Anacortes-born photojournalist. Wallie (second and third photos) also celebrated his 84th birthday on Saturday, so he was joined by family members as the doors opened to a capacity crowd. Museum Director Garry Cline (photo four, with Mike Keller) dressed for the event. He and his staff have reason to be proud of an exhibit featuring work by a number of photographers … primarily Wallie and the late Ferd Brady, a studio photographer whose work was rescued by Funk before it was lost forever on a trip to the dump. See www.cityofanacortes.org, museum for details about the exhibit, then make a date to see this historic display. You won’t be disappointed.
