Squirreling around
I couldn’t quite figure out what was happening when I saw a squirrel in the front yard with a mouthful of, well … another squirrel. By coincidence, my nature-loving brother soon joined me. He reported that we were witnessing a mother squirrel moving her young one from a nest. Then son Mark arrived, so I gave him the honors of capturing scenes from this adventure with the digital camera. The four images here show mother and child posturing for “the carry,” finally culminating in a successful crossing of “O” Avenue to an unknown destination. The little guy’s legs seemed to work just fine, but apparently he wasn’t into moving under his own power. Maybe when he gets hungry enough…
