Team Tea
I didn’t talk to anyone about numbers for the day, but these photos were taken shortly after noon, the opening hour of an anti-tax, anti big government protest held in downtown Anacortes. The local “tea party” was one of countless such gatherings held around the nation today on the deadline day for 2008 tax returns. Those involved in the Anacortes event scheduled their Commercial Avenue gathering from noon to 6 p.m. Among messages on signs and placards were: “Give me liberty, not debt;” “Middle class, retired, being taxed toward the poorhouse;” “Stimulate business, not government;” “Don’t spread my wealth. Spread my work ethic.” Pictured on top of a car, waving a flag is Doug Thurber.
