Bulk carrier takes on load of petcoke
Just arrived at Port of Anacortes Pier 2 is bulk carrier Strategic Venture, sailing under the flag of Singapore. The ship is taking on a load of petroleum coke (petcoke) from local refinery HF Sinclair.

Powell creates high profile art
Among my favorite pieces of public art in this area are “The Maiden of Deception Pass” at Rosario Beach and “Cormorant” at Ship Harbor Interpretive Preserve (SHIP) adjacent to the state ferry terminal. Both pieces were created by local artist Tracy Powell. To read more about Powell, click here.
Ballots in mail for Public Safety levy
Ballots go out this week for the Public Safety Levy request intended to address understaffed Anacortes fire and police departments. If approved by voters the levy lid request would fund 8 new firefighter/medics and 5 police officers. See yes4safety.com for details.
