Fall on display

Seasonal window displays like this one leave little doubt about the fact that we are well on our way to Thanksgiving. The Anacortes Chamber of Commerce presents the Annual Trick-or-Treat downtown from 1 – 4 p.m. on October 30. Fall shadows

Some days call for a jacket, but there have still been a number of beautiful fall days here in Anacortes. Pictured here is a visitor to Cap Sante Boat Haven.

Eye catchers

I’m not sure if it was the schoolchildren crossing sign or the bright colored trees that caught my eye, but I pulled over and shot this photo Tuesday in front of Mt. Erie Elementary School. It is staying/getting darker earlier these days, so exercise extra caution around schools.

Fall around corner

Evidence of the pending arrival of fall is plentiful at local grocery stores. Tonight the sounds of high school football will fill the air as the Anacortes Seahawks play their first home game.

Green on red

For a slice of the “Cascades Highway” experience in terms of fall colors, see the trees in the neighborhood of the North Basin of Cap Sante Boat Haven, just one block south of 4th Street.

Fall flash

Fall look

This fallen leaf, caught between fern fronds just inches from the forest floor, stands as evidence that a season change is underway.
