Family explores tidepools

With the number of summer days dwindling, this family took advantage of sunshine to visit the tidepools at Rosario Beach. The area is monitored by staff from Deception Pass State Park.

Summer stroll

It’s summer now, and families have started to embark on Northwest adventures. Monday morning found these two families in downtown Anacortes, quiet but inviting. I was “on a mission,” so didn’t take time to talk to them about their itineraries. Hope they stop in at the Chamber’s Visitor Information Center!

Family hike

This LaConner family opened the new year with a hike at Washington Park, arguably the most popular recreation spot on Fidalgo Island. Mom and Dad checked their park trail map upon reaching the summit overlooking Burrows Bay.

Family outing

This historic mural, one of dozens created by local artist Bill Mitchell, features a 1910 Model T driven by JA Mitchell. The mural was created from a 1914 photograph taken on a family outing near Mitchell’s log boom. Look for this mural on the north wall of Red Salon, 6th Street and Commercial Avenue.
