This was the view Saturday morning from Portalis, a new, 13-acre residential community above the state ferry terminal at Ship’s Harbor. Passing by a docked San Juans ferry was an oil tanker under tug escort.
It is the state ferry terminal at Ship’s Harbor that brings many people through our community. This terminal handles both traffic to the San Juan Islands and to Sidney in British Columbia. Dramatic improvements are planned at the facility over the course of the next few years.
State ferries sometimes stop in Anacortes without loading or unloading a single passenger. Currently in drydock for maintenance and repairs at the Port of Anacortes is the “Cathlamet.”
